Yes it’s true, according to GFK Chart Track, StarCraft 2 has surpassed the original StarCraft’s lifetime sales in just one week in the UK. This is taking into consideration only physical media sales, not digital downloads. The figures for digital downloads haven’t been released yet. Once the U.S. sales figures are released, they’re expected to be just as strong if not stronger.
The success of StarCraft 2 isn’t surprising since the original StarCraft gathered a huge following throughout the years since its release back in 1998. StarCraft 2 could very well end up being the best selling PC game of all time.

StarCraft Patch 1.01 Released
The first patch for StarCraft 2 was just released. Upon starting the game up you’ll be asked to install the update. Apparently the patch addresses 2 minor issues with the game:

- Campaign saves have been optimized.
- Fixed an issue with sound not playing on some 7.1 systems.

Our first patch for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is now live. This small patch addresses a few technical issues and makes some server-side optimizations; however, there are a couple of changes worth mentioning which are detailed in the official patch notes below.
